BIO
José Filipe Costa is a filmmaker and lecturer. He holds a PhD degree from the Royal College of Art, London. His films include Prazer, Camaradas! (A Pleasure, Comrades, 2019), Linha Vermelha (Red Line, 2011), Entre Muros (In Between Walls, 2002), which he co-directed and the short fiction films O Caso J. (The Case of J., 2017), Domingo (Sunday, 2005) and A Rua (Outside, 2008). Some of his films have been selected for festivals such as Locarno, BFI-London, Hot Docs, Viennale, Cinéma du Réel, PlanetaDoc, Fórumdoc.bh, IndieLisboa, DocLisboa. He has been a lecturer at several academic institutions and was Visitant Professor at Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro in 2013-2014. He is the author of the book O cinema ao Poder! (Power to the cinema!) ed. Hugin, Lisbon, 2002.
